I have been on this page for a while and I notice that most of the marriage request I see on this platform, are of people whose genotype are AA and they are still looking for another AA, nobody is willing to marry someone that is SS.
I saw a post here alot of times and those who are AA would mostly request to be matched with another AA or AS, nobody wants a match with SS. It isn't fair really, Sickle cell isn't contagious, so why do people fear marrying them?
Sickle cell warriors can also live a happy and fulfilled life, so why do people turn away from them?
So many sickle cell warrios have told about how each time they find someone, once he realizes her genotype, they end the relationship. This isn't right.

it probably bcuz of hospital expenses especially if the person isn't very financially strong.

If no be say I get my own sickness for body. I fir go for person wey be SS. But my fear be say make small mistake come happen and I go come give her my own. She go come get double wahala. Or make I come dey down cos of mine while she's having her crisis.

hmm...the As too are suffering...Allah dai ya kawo nagari, but it really happens to AS too even though doctors are saying AS are even more healthier than AA...amma before you see someone that want to marry AS, it will be 10 or 20 AAπ

no I'm not the guy, I just gave my honest opinion abt it if to say I were in the guys shoe. it's not fair kam but ba laifin kowa bane. it's a test for the sick from Allah and in sha Allah they will get someone to love them how they are and take care of them. Allah ya basu lfy π. I know SS people that are happily married with children sef so they shouldn't loose hope. Allah yasan da zaman su.

True talk. The society needs to be enlightened about sickle cell disease. Its not contagious, some can spend a year without crisis, their routine drugs aren't expensive, hospital follow up is once in 2-3months.
Some of us with genotype AA have Thalassemia gene
Let's show them love and support pls.
We need to do more to make the SS thing extinct, hospital bill is never cheap especially since most of them don't work. can you deal with the emotional trauma or do you realize death can come for them anytime ??
